Overview

Angle steel, commonly known as angle iron, is a long - strip steel with two sides perpendicular to each other to form an angular shape. Angle steel can be divided into equal - angle steel and unequal - angle steel, and according to different processes, it can also be divided into hot - rolled angle steel and cold - bent angle steel.

Its specification is expressed in millimeters as side width × side width × side thickness. For example, “∠30×30×3” represents an equal - angle steel with a side width of 30 millimeters and a side thickness of 3 millimeters. It can also be represented by the model number, which is the number of centimeters of the side width, such as ∠3#. The model number does not represent the different side - thickness dimensions in the same model. Therefore, on contracts and other documents, the side - width and side - thickness dimensions of the angle steel should be fully filled in to avoid using only the model number for representation. The specifications of hot - rolled equal - angle steel range from 2# to 20#.

Content Introduction: This standard replaces GB/T 706 - 2008 "Hot - rolled Section Steel".

This standard stipulates the ordering content, dimensions, shape, weight and allowable deviations, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking and quality certificates of hot - rolled I - beams, hot - rolled channel steels, hot - rolled equal - leg angle steels and hot - rolled unequal - leg angle steels.

This standard is applicable to hot - rolled equal - leg angle steels, hot - rolled unequal - leg angle steels, hot - rolled I - beams and hot - rolled channel steels with slopes on the inner side of the legs (hereinafter referred to as section steels).

Compared with GB/T 706 - 2008, the main technical changes in this standard are as follows:

Deleted relevant content about hot - rolled L - section steels (see Tables 3, 5 and A.5 in the 2008 version);
Added ordering content (see Chapter 3);
Adjusted some allowable deviations of dimensions and shape (see Tables 1 and 2, Tables 1 and 2 in the 2008 version);
Adjusted requirements for weight allowable deviations (see 4.4, 3.4 in the 2008 version);
Adjusted values such as cross - sectional area, theoretical weight and cross - sectional characteristic parameters (see Tables A.1, A.2, A.3 and A.4);
Added specification representation methods (see 4.5).
